anne and mark’s art party 2014

Yep, they did it again, Anne Sconberg and Mark Henderson – artists, art-lovers, art-supporters and the ultimate cultural producers – cooked up a storm. The magical ingredient? Creativity of course. Well, bloody hard work, a population of people such as volunteers, but not only, very long hours, and a very large pinch of passion are all part of the recipe too.  The alchemy they’ve created was a hurricane that for 5 days has artified the Silicon Valley and has brought together more than 300 artists from all over the world gathering all sort of communities and creative genres lovers, from fine arts to performance and music to poetry and spoken word, to opera, fire games, food, fashion and beyond.

This visionary heroic effort seems to have delighted the community of San jose’ of which Anne and Mark are notorious dedicated members.  The opening night was a spectacular tornado that indiscriminately electrified everyone: inclusive and therefore immense. There was something for everybody to enjoy and to engage with, and everybody did. A sense of inebriating freedom swept across the fairgrounds that smelled like “smooth democratic oasis with an edge” (No, you cannot find it in the stores, and no, it is not a tequila brand neither).

Now that the flooding has quiet down what will be next? Be reassured, the cyclone is just catching its breath and gathering steam for the next high alert event. In the meantime here ( above) are just few of the 300 and more works partying at at Anne and Mark’s art party 2014 at the Santa Clara County Fairground in San Jose’ CA.

ickweetART, CRAFT and STYLE  bind with POETRY are the main ingredients of these two Berliner designer: LINN ANNEN and CONNIE KRAUS.

LINN ANNEN a fashion and custom designer whose work extends into the fine arts limbo. Her creations are a very personal view of how clothing and fine arts should mingle together:

Here is how Linn describes her work for CENTRAL BOOKING in New York City where her work is currently on display:

“I am dealing with different forms of expressions on the border between fashion and art. The basic idea of my work is to wear art on the body. I create so-called ”wearable objects” composed of different materials, colors and shapes. A combination of new and used materials, parts of garments, and fabrics is part of my style. “Word-robes“ are clothes, which become an area for the projection of my thoughts. I like to turn the inside out and to use the fashion surface as a medium for personal text fragments and aphorisms. A special way of handwriting done with sewing machine is characteristic feature of my work”.

CONNIE KRAUS a stone mason carver by trade applies her tactile skills creating poetic and sensual interior designer objects which go under the trademark of MOHNLICHT

“Mohnlicht is a young Berlin label for interior decoration and living room accessories. We design and manufacture products with elements made of transparent plastic in which natural materials are incorporated. Each piece is handmade, has high standards to the design and is absolutely unique.

We offer finished products for immediate purchase but also customize according to wish, measure or interiors to create original and individual pieces.

Mohnlicht takes regularly part to art and culture festivals, such as 48 hours of Neukölln”.WP_20130421_033
